NJAS Welcomes New Editors-in-Chief
As of today, April 1, 2026, NJAS has new Editors-in-Chief at its helm!
Dr Rasmus Bernander is transitioning from his editorial post in our Language and Linguistics section. He is a senior lecturer in the Department of Languages and Literatures at the University of Gothenburg. His research interests include grammatical variation and change in Bantu languages; he is currently heading the research project Modality in Swahili – variation, change and transfer.
Dr Carmeliza Rosário has served as the head of our Culture and History section for the past four years. Dr Rosário is a Social Anthropologist with over 20 years of experience conducting multifaceted social research, including work on poverty, inequality, and the gendered effects of development programs. She is currently affiliated with the University of Bergen and Kaleidoscopio, an independent research institution based in Maputo focusing on research in public policy and culture.
Dr Thera Crane and Dr Jonna Katto are grateful for our years at NJAS and look forward to serving on the Advisory Board. We thank all of the authors readers, reviewers, editors, and advisory board members for their fantastic collaboration. We're happy to be leaving the journal in good hands.
